While you’re here…

Southern California has plenty to offer. If you’re in town for a few days and want to make the most of your time, we’ve got some great suggestions for you!

Visit Malibu

Although you may know Malibu for its picturesque Malibu Colony with beach houses on stilts, it’s actually a private stretch of beach that you won’t have access to. But don’t let that deter you, there’s plenty more to enjoy in Malibu.

Malibu

Malibu has a number of great beaches, but Zuma Beach and El Matador Beach are two of the most popular. If you’re into exploring rather than just sunbathing, El Matador Beach offers some neat rock formations.

If you’re looking for a great, Malibu lunch spot the Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market & Patio Cafe is a popular, often raved choice. But prepare yourself for a potentially long wait.

If seafood (or long waits) aren’t your thing, head to the Malibu Country Mart for a bite to eat instead. John’s Garden Fresh Health Store has some great eats. Travis highly recommends the “Buben” (pronounced ‘boo-bin’) if you like hot pastrami sandwiches. The mart also offers plenty of shopping, coffee shops, and chances are you’ll see a celebrity or two. It’s easy spending a couple hours or more hanging out at the Malibu Mart.

Pepperdine University

Malibu is also home to Pepperdine University. It’s a beautiful campus and if you have the time, you should definitely walk around and walk off that Buben for an hour or two ;-). Things should be relatively quiet still as students won’t be going back until mid-September. We’ve created a map with all of these destinations and directions from the Westlake Hyatt to Malibu here.

The Getty Villa

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly activity, the Getty Villa is a must see. With a museum boasting over 44,000 Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities, beautiful gardens, and stunning architecture, the grounds can keep you busy nearly all day.

Pepperdine University

Admission to the museum and grounds is free. The only cost is $15 per vehicle for parking. That being said, you must book your tickets in advance. For more information about the Getty Villa, visit their website here, read a bit more about it on Wikipedia, and book your free tickets here.

Disneyland

A place that needs no introduction, Disneyland, is just an hour and fifteen minutes from the hotels in Westlake Village. It should go without saying that you can easily spend a full day here, and it’s a great place to go if you are traveling with kids (although Kaitlin won’t judge you if you aren’t and go anyway!)

Tickets can be purchased from the website and we’ve mapped directions from the Westlake Hyatt here.

The wedding takes place in Ventura County. However, Los Angeles County is not far to the South and Santa Barbara County to the North.

Tourism websites for all three counties can be found below:
